|| Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh ||
Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most beautiful state of north east India. It is one of the most disputed land too as it shares boundaries with sevaral countries like - Bhutan, Mayanmar and China. Tawang is a beautiful town located inside Arunachal and very near to the border of China. Apart from the mesmerizing beauty of the snow clad mountains, tawang is home to the 17th centuary Tawang Monastery which is itself a wonder.

Route plan -
One thing to remember that you need a special permit to enter Arunachal Pradesh as it is a restricted place. Before start your journey get the permit done from nearest Arunachal Pradesh Bhavan or their government tourism offices (passport size photos and xerox of id's required along with purpose of visit).
We started our journey from Kolkata airport to Guwahati (Assam) airport in the middle of the May. I was accompanied by one of my friend. You can also fly to Tezpur, instead of Guwahati, it'll reduce your by road journey upto 200Km. We rested for a day and roam around Guwahati as it was our first visit, next day morning we booked a car for five days for to and fro journey to Tawang. We booked it around Rs. 4000/Day, the fare may go up these days (Please choose cars with more ground clearance as the road condition is very bad in few places). On the first day of our journey we started from Guwahati a bit late, we crossed the border of Arunachal in the afternoon and traveled upto Bomdila (as it is the biggest town enroute). Guwahati to Bomdila is 338KM by road and takes almost 8-10hrs. If you don't want to travel that long for a day, you can stay at Bhalukpong, which is near the border of Assam and Arunachal. Guwahati to Bhalukpong is 240KM, it is a small town beside river Kameng, there are some really beautiful cottages over the hills. There is a Orchid Sanctuary in Bhalukpong which is one must visit.
Next day we started for Tawang early in the morning. It is a 170Km journey over the hills and in average height of 7000Ft to 9000Ft. En route you'll get Dirang town (Famous for Apple Farms), Sela Pass, Jang town etc. All places are picturesque and you'll love to click. We stayed in a small hotel in tawang, from where you can see the monastery in the middle of snow clad mountain. If you have time you can visit local site scenes, like war memorial and etc.
